SF GIANTS TROPHY DISPLAYING WHERE??? Let’s see a show of hands if you think that the San Francisco Giant’s World Series Trophy should be displayed in The Civic Auditorium, the Main Library, or somewhere on City property this Thursday 1/27?? Now let’s see how many hands for displaying it at Costco, or wow…The Seaside Corporation’s Boardwalk?
According to the Sentinel, Mayor Ryan Coonerty’s long time buddy Chris Reyes (who Ryan is also pushing to get on the Transportation Commission) got the trophy to show at the Boardwalk because Reyes as we know is the Press Flack for the Boardwalk. The Sentinel reports…”Kris Reyes, spokesman for the Boardwalk, said he expects fans will be allowed to line up at least three hours ahead of time, though exact details are still being worked out with the Giants. Reyes said the Boardwalk asked the city if the 103-year-old amusement park could host the trophy shortly after the Giants announced the trophy’s visit”. Then Reyes says,” “Seeing the Giants’ trophy at the home of the Giant Dipper will make for an amazing day for baseball fans,” Reyes said “More than that The Seaside Corp will be ready that day..Sentinel again…”The 86-year-old wooden coaster will not be open during the trophy’s visit, which comes during the Boardwalk’s winter closure for rides. However, the Casino Arcade, Neptune’s Kingdom and Boardwalk Bowl will be open. Reyes said the Boardwalk will provide security and operational support for the visit, which event planners anticipate will draw up to 2,000 based on showings at other stops along the tour.
City officials are not expecting the need for additional police presence for security or traffic control. Fans won’t be permitted to take photos, but a professional photographer will be on hand to snap photos of fans with the trophy. The photos will be available for purchase online”.

Several senior Apple executives — including Betsy Rafael (controller), Jeffrey Williams (operations senior VP) and Bertrand Serlet (software engineering senior VP) — took advantage of the company’s recent record share prices to exercise some of the stock options they’ve been sitting on.But none saw quite the windfall that Bob Mansfield enjoyed last Thursday. According to an SEC Form 4 filed Tuesday, Mansfield sold 40,000 shares on 10/21 with a strike price of $36.54 for $308 apiece — clearing a cool $10.844 million in the deal. More…
WHAT’S HE PLANNING ON BUILDING ON SMITH GRADE? According to another well trained spy and from his application in the planning department…Bonny Doon will be blessed with and I quote..” The application says that in addition to the house, they propose building 1 garage, 2 workshops, 1 tractor barn, 1 carport, 1 horse barn, 1 potting shed, 1 swimming pool, 1 outdoor kitchen, 1 gate, miscellaneous stone bollards, various cisterns. They have already dug a well. One cistern is noted as being 36,000 gallons. The 3,073 square foot basement is identified by the applicant as ‘non-habitable’ and the plan shows it will include lots of ‘utility’ space, a bar and a theater! Grading for the basement is exempt from the grading ordinance. The house, including basement is just under 9,000 sq ft, the other outbuildings come to over 5,000 sq ft.
The house is noted as being 35′ tall, though that does not include chimneys and a ‘penthouse’ which according to the scale would extend another 5′ making the structure at least 40′ tall. Standard allowable house height is 28′, thus this will require an exception.
KRIS REYES BIO. Right now Kris has been pushed up to the Parks and Recreation Commission, but odds say he’ll get David Terrazas, Hillary’s, Lynn’s votes for sure and probably Don Lane’s and make the Transportation Commission next.
Reyes in case you forget, ran Republican Bruce McPherson’s Senate campaign. He was Ryan’s campaign consultant and in days gone by he ran two Republican political campaigns in Texas one for Peter Wareing for Congress and Fred Brown for State Representative.
Another funny odd, not funny ha-ha item is that John Robinson (Lynn’s husband) former Seaside flack and now head of the State International Association of Amusement Parks named Kris best PR campaign guy in 2007 and again in 2008. What’s that about?? Well when you figure the City of Santa Cruz just gave the Seaside Corporation full rights to the Chili Cook Off which draws thousands, then in May the City again gave the Seaside Corporation the hugely popular Amgen Bicycle Race ending location that drew 1000’s you just have to wonder what’s next?
How about moving the Garfield Park Library to the Cocoanut Grove and charging a wristband to take out books? How about moving all the City Voting Booths to Neptune’s Garden? How about we all pay our parking tickets next to the Funnel Cakes stand? The mind and Civic budget boggles in anticipation.

WHERE’S PETER? Whatever happened to Peter the frizzy-long haired saxophone player who played and hung out along Pacific Avenue for the last few years??? The police don’t have a clue and said to call the coroner’s office who said they needed a last name but like Chip and Liberace he mostly didn’t use one. Peter used to be a regular at the Penny University on Mondays and stopped a month ago. Since then rumors of his hanging or OD’ing on Methadone have been circulating. Peter was an over gifted techie and saw many things others didn’t…if you have any info on where he went let me know.
PATTON’S PROGRAM. Mr. G. Patton tells about the Eco-Farm conference if anybody cares about our food. He relates that there’s stuff about Watsonville growth and ethics that needs attention. He talks about Redevelopment in Santa Cruz County, about proposed developing of Pebble Beach. Gary closes by announcing that he will be at the LAFCO meeting because Water policy issues are scheduled to be on the agenda, and so is the process for considering the extension of water service to UCSC, to facilitate University expansion into the UCSC “North Campus” area. Facebook – Choose the best type of Facebook page for you!
If Facebook were a country, it would be the third biggest in the world, behind China and India, according to the San Francisco Chronicle‘s January 1, 2011, social media chart. Closing in on having 600 million users internationally, Facebook provides a rare marketing opportunity to reach a global audience. So be sure when you utilize Facebook for business and/or personal reasons, you are familiar with the different types of pages Facebook offers. 1. Facebook Personal Page. This is for your friends and family and/or colleagues. At least once a week, I receive an invitation from a business to “add them as a friend.” This means that business is using the wrong type of page! Facebook has created Business Pages with special features to help boost business so that is what’s needed. When you are invited to join a Facebook Personal Page, it will say, “Add as Friend.”
2. Facebook Business Page (formerly known as a “Fan Page”)
Remember: You must have a free, Facebook Personal Page already set up in your name in order to create a Facebook Business Page. This is where you can build your following of current customers and find new ones. When you are invited to join a Facebook Business Page, it will say, “Like.”
3. Facebook Group Pages.
Facebook revamped its Group Page functionality to make it easier to communicate within the group, resulting in more companies using the Group Page for inside corporate communications. This can also be good for private groups, like Rotary Clubs. When you are invited to join a Facebook Group Page, it will say, “Join.”
4. Facebook Community Pages. You won’t be adding content, creating or editing your own Community Page – that’s done by Facebook itself. Facebook defines them as “the pages that link from fields you fill out in your profile — are for general topics and all kinds of unofficial but interesting things. You “like” these pages to connect with them, but they aren’t run by a single author, and they don’t generate News Feed stories. Wikipedia and other sources generate the content for these pages.

NO STRINGS ATTACHED. Natalie Portman was as good as she could be with a script that meant absolutely nothing but having to act and fake emotion with Ashton Kushner hulking dumbly across from you is going too far. Avoid this film (if you can call it that)
SOMEWHERE.This film really stars Elle Fanning because she steals every second she’s on screen. Elle’s really 13 but plays an 11 year old. Don’t confuse her with her older sister Dakota who’s now 17!! This is Sophia Coppola’s 4th film and her ex boyfriend Quentin Tarantino who headed the Venice Film Festival gave her an award, but he shouldn’t have. It’s good, I cried but the story of a single father trying to raise his daughter just kept getting to me. Go see it.
BIUTIFUL.I’ve never met or heard from anybody who doesn’t like Javier Bardem and this film like Innaritu’s other greats Amores Perros, 21 Grams, Babel is superlative and perfect. Go down to the Nick and wait for it…it’s worth it.
HURRY AND SEE. Whatever you do don’t miss Black Swan, Rabbit Hole and Blue Valentine all great and all on my top 10.
